04-13-09 Parable 14: The Friend at Midnight

PDF Print E-mail
Each of you has within you the power to ask and to receive. Many of you forget to use this power and miss opportunities to grow and become the masters that you truly are.

The more inconvenient the situation and the greater the need, the more humbling the experience in asking. You learn how God works through you when you help others.

It takes great courage to ask for specific needs of others to be met - it also takes a resilance when some of the people you ask are not able to answer the need. You must not judge them but continue to persevere in your asking.

Your's is to have faith and to see the need met. This will move you from your current state of apathy and disinterest into a more enlivened state of being. It will propel you to take action to see results. This will benefit you in your personal lives as well.

You will learn to ask, have faith, and see the tangible results changing your lives for the better.

Jesus

PARABLE 14 - THE FRIEND AT MIDNIGHT

And he said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend and you go to him at midnight and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves of bread for a friend of mine has arrived, and I have nothing to set before him."

And he answers from within, "Do not bother me, the door has already been locked, and my children are with me in bed, I cannot get up and give you anything."

I tell you, even thought he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, at least because of his persistance he will get up and give him whatever he needs.

"So I say to you, ask and it will be given you, search and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you.

For everyone who asks receives and everyone who searches finds and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened."

This parable teaches you how to activate ASK, and it will be given," in such a way that our asking brings results.

Could I have a loaf of bread? I'd like a loaf of bread for Mary who needs to feed her daughter. We have a homeless family that needs food. Can each of you bring something to share with them next week?

In each of these questions your response comes from a different place within you. We want to ask the question in such a way that a natural and automatic response comes from the person you are asking.

What will you respond to? When you begin to help others at this level, the requirements for you are different and so is the the level of asking. You are now asking from a place of knowing, believing and moving forward confidently with absolute assurance that you will receive. Dwell on this and have faith.
